--Count it all joy when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces endurance. James 1:2-3-- When I first started this blog I wondered what I would ever write about. We have since welcomed a child with spina bifida and another with Down syndrome. This has become a blog about our family and what it means to love and grow together even when life doesn't turn out how we planned it to be. We are learning to count it all joy.

Original Blog Post: January 27, 2009- Improvement
After a quick (tongue-in-cheek) trip to neurosurgery yesterday and an ultrasound we've learned that everything, from their standpoint, is normal and good. The fussiness we are experiencing seems to come from normal baby growth and development. Maybe it's actually a growth spurt or some other normally occurring baby thing. Kind of amazing to think of! They are concerned about the healing of one of his head incisions, it is starting to pull apart like the one over his first shunt did. We are praying really hard because if it does pull apart it means taking out the shunt again and putting in a new one . . . again.
Meanwhile, we are enjoying our time together as a family. Adam and I have to remember what kinds of things babies like to do and need to do, tummy time, mobiles, bouncy chairs, swings, all things we can't do at the hospital. It takes a few days to get back in the groove of having an infant not hooked up to a million different tubes and machines! We're getting it, slowly.
